Target to achieve 100 percent in providing ration card in Coimbatore district: New ration cards issued for 1,250 people
Coimbatore: New ration cards were issued for 1,250 people. The scheme of issuing 100 percent ration cards to the people across the Coimbatore district is being implemented continuously. Of these, more than 10,000 had applied and in the first phase 6,250 new ration cards were issued after printing. In Coimbatore, out of 1,098 ration shops, 10,57,000 cards are in use.
The application has been received on the basis of '100 per cent ration card target' in Coimbatore since last October 23. An official of the District Supply Department said, "Only the application of those who do not have the relevant certificate will be rejected. All other applications are immediately approved and sent for printing. In Coimbatore, all those who applied till Jan. 16 have been issued. Recently, 6,250 people have been issued the card."
