Free marriage for 123 couples on behalf of AIADMK in Coimbatore: Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy and Deputy Chief Minister OPS conducted the event
Coimbatore: Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy and Deputy Chief Minister OPS conducted the event of free marriage for 123 couples on behalf of AIADMK in Coimbatore.
On the occasion of Jayalalithaa's birthday, the AIADMK in Coimbatore district holds free marriages for poor women every year.

Accordingly this year today 123 couples got married in this event. For this, a huge stage has been set up at Perur Chettipalayam in Coimbatore Siruvani Road.

Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam presided over the wedding ceremony today under the chairmanship of Coimbatore Suburban South District Secretary Minister SP Velumani.

73 types of gift items were provided to the wedding couples. Later food was provided for the wedding couple, their relatives and the public who attended the wedding. 73 items including mattress, pillow, wardrobe, suitcase, gas stove, lamp, pots, cooker and other kitchen items and pooja items were provided for wedding couples free of charge.

The event was attended by tens of thousands of people including ministers, MLAs, party district secretaries and administrators.
People from all the villages in the Thondamuthur constituency were invited to attend the wedding. Public attended in large numbers to bless the brides and grooms.

Minister SP Velumani said, "It was decided to hold free marriages for 73 couples to mark the birthday of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. But as the number of people who booked for free weddings increased, 123 couples were chosen for free weddings instead of 73 couples. These marriages are conducted with the same affection of holding a marriage event in our own homes."
