During his confession murder convict Suresh Kumar revealed that "I am a labourer. I was recently married to women from Rathinapuri. When I was on my way back from work on the 23rd last month, Manigandan approached me and asked me to leave my wife saying that he was her lover. He then threatened to kill me if I did not leave my wife. So I planned to kill him before he killed me. So I told about my situation to my friends Rajagopal, Vadivel and Sujith.
After getting their support we went in a car to Manigandan's house and my friends convinced him that they are police officials and took him from his home. Four of us got inside the car and started to attack him. During this Manigandan went unconscious and not knowing what to do we rounded the city and dropped him near Mettupalayam and escaped."
