Coimbatore: A two wheeler crashed upon Ravichandran who was walking along the road near 100ft Gandhipuram.
Neighbours called 108 ambulance as Ravichandran sustained serious injuries.
When the 108 ambulance driver was using the stretcher to recover the victim, he witnessed some people trying to steal the money from Ravichandran.
Upon seeing it, 108 ambulance drivers safeguarded the money Ravichandran had and safely recovered him and admitted Ravichandran at a hospital.
After this Ambulance driver Suresh and EMT Gopala Krishnan surrendered the ₹1,00,527 rupees which Ravichandran had at the hospital.
Driver Suresh said that "We arrived at the scene immediately to recover Ravichandran who was injured. Two people from the crowd saw the money which Ravichandran had and tried to steal it. When we asked about them they two said that they were the man's relatives, when we asked them to get into the ambulance they tried to escape.
We then took Ravichandran to the hospital and surrendered the cash infront of the doctors. Lot of people and social activists call us to help others, but some people tend to steal during such important times. The money would have been stolen if we had not seen it. This would have created a big issue for us. What are we supposed to do? Give first aid to the injured victim or safe guard his belongings? People should behave with humanity and self consciousness."
