Coimbatore: A government school teacher from Kinathukadavu Government School turned positive for Covid-19. Students from that school are now under observation.
TamilNadu government recently reopened school for students from 9th to 12 th standard. Post this students were let into their classes in circulation by batches. As a preventive measure body temperature of students and teachers were checked and recorded along with increasing the usage of hand sanitizers.
Students and teachers were ordered to wear face masks and also ordered to maintain social distancing as preventive measures.
Meanwhile a physical education teacher's mom was infected with Covid-19 a few days back. The 38 year old teacher was also infected by the virus. Post this she was admitted at the government hospital in Coimbatore for treatment.
Coimbatore health department officials cleaned the Kinathukadavu government school with sanitizers. This is the first time a teacher was infected with Covid-19 in Coimbatore post the reopening of schools.
Infection of a school teacher has created panic among students, fellow teachers, parents and the public.
Health officials are involved in contact tracing and are taking measures to contain the spread. They have requested the school and students to report incase witnessing symptoms.
Doctors are monitoring the school closely, since the teacher did not come in contact with the students the chances of infection spread is low. Covid-19 tests are done only for the people who are close to the school teacher.
