Cyber Crime Police warns public of fraud by creating fake phone numbers
Coimbatore: Cyber crime police have issued a warning to the public after receiving information that the numbers of the most popular companies were being forged and used fraudulently by fake companies. They advised to be vigilant as the customer service center numbers of reputed companies are being forged and fraud is on the rise.
Cybercrime police said, "Often the contact numbers of the customer service centers of the particular company are searched through the search sites. After purchasing the item, placing an 'order' and paying for it, the customer contacts the customer service center of the company to complain when the item is not delivered for various reasons. Fraudulent companies fakely register the contact number of the customer service center of a reputed company on search sites that account for such customers. Customers are robbed of their money and recently, such complaints have increased. Hence customers need to be vigilant."
