Coimbatore Collector orders arrest of BJP member Kalayana Raman under The Goonda Act

Around 9 cases were filed on Kalayana Raman in the last three years for his intentional actions provocating communal violence.


Coimbatore: Under the orders of Coimbatore District Collector, Goonda Act is filed on BJP member Kalyana Raman.

BJP member Kalyana Raman took part in a meeting that happened in Mettupalayam, Coimbatore. During the event, Kalyana Raman made intentional derogatory remarks on Islamic Leader Prophet Mohammad.

This incident was opposed by my political parties and islamic organizations who said that the statements made were targeted to create riots. Many protests took place at various parts of the state.

Around 9 cases were filed on Kalayana Raman in the last three years for his intentional actions provoking communal violence.

After that Kalyana Raman was arrested by Mettupalayam police officials who have filed a case on Kalayana Raman under sections 109/2021 U/S 147, 148, 149, 323, 504, 505 (ii), 153(A), 153(B) & 269 IPC @ 147, 148, 149, 324, 353, 506 (ii), 307 & 109 and was then sent to prison. Later his bail was denied in Court for the 2nd time.

Meanwhile, Coimbatore Collector Rajamani under the recommendation made by District SP ordered Kalayana Raman to be charged with Goonda Act. A FIR copy was submitted to Kalyana Raman at the prison in Gobichettipalayam, Erode district.
