They said that, “With the Central Government's Corporate friendly policy have surged up the cost of basic construction goods. This uncontrolled price hike of iron, cement has led to the job loss of labourers.
Construction sector in India is already under threat with demonization, GST, Covid-19 crisis etc.
Meanwhile iron per ton has surged up from 35,000 rupees to 65,000 rupees, cement per bag has gone to 420 rupees from 280 rupees and many other goods have gone up by 20%. Petrol, diesel and gas prices have gone up. This has affected people, migration workers, construction workers and others.”
Coimbatore Central Workers Union have decided to go on a one day strike on 12th Februaryrequesting the government to take immediate actions regarding this issue.
