DMK executive beaten to death near Sulur: Restaurant owner, Parotta Master arrested.


Coimbatore: Restaurant owner, Parotta Master arrested for beating a DMK executive to death near Sulur. Police said Arokkiyaraj (age 37), a painter from Amman Kovil Road Sulur, near Muthugoundenpudur and has a wife and 2 children. He has also been the DMK branch president in the area.

Arokkiyaraj, who came home after work yesterday, went to the hotel belonging to Karikalan and bought parotta for which it is allged that they gave very little quantity of gravy. When Arokiyaraj asked if this was enough and requested more, the shop owner said that he had given enough for the money paid and could not give more than this. This led to an argument between the two and shortly afterwards it led into a brawl, with Parotta Master Karuppasamy and Muthu, a friend of the hotel owner, started hitting and kicking Arokkiyaraj.

Following this Arokkiyaraj fainted and the public who saw him, rescued him and sent him to Sulur Government Hospital by 108 ambulance. But doctors who examined him said he was already dead. The incident in which a DMK official was killed caused a great stir in the area and the DMK gathered there at midnight and demanded the arrest of the accused. Sulur Inspector Sundarapandian had registered a murder case and was investigating. The hotel owner Karikalan and Master Karuppasamy were arrested, interrogated and imprisoned. They are also looking for Karikalan's friend Muthu, who is involved in the murder.
