Petrol per litre is sold at Rs 90 and Diesel per litre is sold at Rs 83.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore Lorry Owners Association Head Murugesan stated that "we are increasing the rental for trucks by 20 % with regards to the continuous hike in petrol and diesel prices."
He then said that "Due to lockdown because of Covid-19, Public Department Oil Companies did not make any changes in the prices of petrol or diesel. Later from last June the petrol and diesel prices began to increase continuously. Petrol per litre is sold at Rs 90 and Diesel per litre is sold at Rs 83.
Lorry driver's and other common people who rely on this were heavily affected by this. Transport is one of the main aspects of Indian Economy. This is chronically affected with the upsurge in petrol and diesel prices. Transportation companies are at a loss for the past 6 months because of the uncontrollable pricing. Hence we are forced to increase the truck rental charges by 20 %.
This will have a major impact on the rates of vegetables, fruits and other services.
Government must take immediate action to control the GST on petroleum products. Public and people for various industries must support truck owners with this decision." He said.
