Income tax audit at areca nut company in Coimbatore


Coimbatore: Income tax audit at areca nut company in Coimbatore. The Income Tax Department conducted an inspection at a areca nut manufacturing company near Coimbatore. Goa-based Goa Cashew and Unicode Food Products are headquartered in Annur, near Coimbatore. Areca nuts are also made here. The company was inspected yesterdayby a team of eight people, including employees of the Income Tax authorities.

Inspections were also conducted on hostels and factories on the company premises. According to the Income Tax Department, the inspection is being conducted at three locations owned by the company. It was found to contain banned gutka. Documents related to tax evasion have also been found.

Police were deployed for security following the Income Tax raid. The factory was not operational yesterdaydue to the income tax audit. The Income Tax Department informed food safety officials about the confiscation of banned gutka.
