12.5 lakh goats distributed in the last ten years to uplift the livelihood of the poor: Minister Udumalai Radhakrishnan.
Coimbatore: Minister Udumalai Radhakrishnan said, 12.5 lakh goats distributed in the last ten years to uplift the livelihood of the poor.
Free goats were distributed to the poor at Kollupalayam, Nattu Kalpalayam, Kollapatti, C. Malayandipattinam under the Pollachi South Union at a cost of 3.5 crores to 1,110 poor families. Compound wall was built at a cost of Rs. 36 lakhs in the Kollapatti Government high school and foundation was laid for the laying of tar road at a cost of Rs. 15 lakhs.
The Minister of Animal Husbandry Udumalai Radhakrishnan participated in this and started the welfare work of providing goats. He also issued checks for Rs.2000 for the maintenance of the goats.
Later, in an interview to reporters, he said that this year alone, one and a half lakh goats have been provided under the goat distribution scheme introduced by former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to uplift the livelihoods of the rural poor and middle class in Tamil Nadu. 12,75,000 goats, dairy cows for 1.5 lakhs people and chickens have been provided to 3.5 lakhs people in the last ten years which ensured the livelihood of the poor.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy has said that he will be campaigning in Tirupur district for two days on Thursday and Friday, including Tirupur, North, South, Kangayam, Dharapuram, Udumalai and Madathukulam.
