The Nilgiris: An awareness program against the slave labour system was organised in Coonoor, The Nilgiris by Coonoor Assistant Commissioner for Labour (Enforcement) Sateesh Kumar.
This awareness campaign is being conducted every year to create an awareness among the people against slavery labour.
As a part of that this year an awareness short film was screened by the Department of News and Public Relations. During this campaign, pamphlets which quoted against slavery was distributed to public.
During the campaign, it was said that Slavery labour was a punishable offense under law and people who are involved in such acts will be imprisoned for upto 3 years.
Assistant Commissioner for Labour Satheesh Kumar said that continuous research will be undertaken to oversee this issue.
Sub Inspector S Vasantha, Krishnaveni, C Raghu Ram, Naveen Krishna and d other officials took part in this event.
