Coimbatore: Police officials stop smugglers from hijacking 4tons of ration rice from Coimbatore to Kerala by road. Authorities arrest the driver and seize rice and truck used in the smuggling.
Police officials stated that " Madukkarai Police Officials received a secret tip about rice being smuggled into Kerala via Madukkarai. Post this Inspector Murugesan ordered policemen to inspect the vehicles near Marapalam.
During their checking, authorities found a truck with Kerala registration number and conducted a search. Police officials then found 84 rice sacks which weighed 50 kg each. Police authorities recovered a total of 4 tons of ration rice which were to be smuggled to Kerala.
Police officials immediately arrested driver Aravindashan (38) from Thirussur, Kerala and seized the vehicle. Later the Madukkarai Police Officials surrendered him to the Food Smuggling Prevention department officials.
