Coimbatore: Members of the Tamilnadu Government Employees Association (TNGEA) are protesting for the 8th day across Tamilnadu requesting the government to implement their requests immediately. As a part of that Tamilnadu Government Employees Association members took part in a protest and demonstration in front of the Coimbatore District Collector office.
For the protest which is happening for the 8th day today, members came dressed in black clothes and sat on the road during their demonstration.
The protestors requested the Government to sanction their various requests immediately. Some of their requests include filling the 4.5 lakhs vacant positions in Tamilnadu, salaries according to the grade pay to the 3.5 lakh workers in the departments including Anganwadi workers, Mid-day meal scheme workers, Revenue and Panchayat board workers, MRB Nurse, Cancellation of Adiseshiah Committee which ruins the employment chances of youngsters, cancellation of new pension scheme, reinstating the old pension scheme, 50 lakh rupees for workers who died due to Covid-19, special salary for Covid-19 workers etc.
Protestors raised slogans against the FIR filed against the Jacto-Geo protestors and requested the officials to cancel the new pension schemes.
Police officials arrested over 200 members who took part in this protest and kept them at a private wedding hall.
