POCSO prisoner faints and dies in Coimbatore prison
Coimbatore: A POCSO prisoner in Coimbatore has fainted and died.
A prisoner who was arrested under the POCSO Act for raping a girl in Coimbatore has been sentenced to life imprisonment. Police said Ebenezer Thurairaj, 47, of Kangeyam, Erode district was lodged in the Coimbatore Central Jail and died due to ill health.
Arrested under the POCSO Act for raping a girl, he was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Tirupur fast track court. Ebenezer, who was serving his sentence in the Coimbatore Central Jail, suddenly fainted yesterday. He died on the way to Coimbatore Government Hospital. Race Course police are investigating the case.
