Coimbatore: In line with the project to improvise health sector across Tamil Nadu, foundation stone was laid here on Monday at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) premises for a new building with advanced infrastructure to cater to various health care needs of the people.

Overall, the project costs around Rs. 300.69 crore, which includes Rs.189.79 crore for machines and other basic necessities. The project comes in hand as the state government is keen on improving health sectors across the cities in the state, told a source.

Inaugurated by Coimbatore South MLA Amman K Arjunan along with District Collector K Rajamani and CMCH Dean Kalidas, the newly proposed building will have nine operation theatre plus two hybrid theatres.

General surgical procedures, CTS, Gaestroentrology, operation theatre for neurosurgery, ICU, POCU, PACU and step down ICU will ne part of this new building. Also, equipments required for surgeries like CMR, hybrid OT, digital X-rays, ultrasound, digital Digital mammography, cavitron ultra sonic aspirator, imaging centre consisting of MRI and CT scan, endoscopy, IVR and others have also been proposed in the project.
The procurement of all the listed machines and equipments will take place by Tamil Nadu Medical Association, after a nod from the state government.
