171 CCTV cameras to prevent violations: Assistant Commissioner of Traffic
Coimbatore: Assistant Commissioner of Traffic announced today that 171 cctv cameras have been installed to prevent traffic violations.
Awareness programs were organized at Mettupalayam Road ahead of the Coimbatore Transport Week. Then Deputy Commissioner of Transport Raj Kanna said that 171 cameras were functioning well to monitor traffic irregularities. On Road Safety Month, an awareness program was conducted on behalf of the traffic police. In Coimbatore, the traffic police are conducting various awareness programs ahead of the 32nd Road Safety Month.
An awareness program with art performances was held at the Sai Baba temple junction on Mettupalayam Road yesterday. Traffic Police Assistant Commissioner Rajkanna said, "The street play was held as part of the awareness. A street play was held to depict a conversation between Chitragupta and Yema Dharmaraj. This included raising awareness about the need to wear a helmet and seatbelt and to value signals."
He also added, "Automated imposition of fines for those involved traffic offenses are being implemented. We need to help the public to follow traffic rules properly and reduce accidents. Following this accidents are declining every year. In Coimbatore, 171 cameras have been installed to monitor traffic violations."
