5 Kumkis brought to capture elephant creating havoc in Pandalur
Coimbatore: Five 'Kumkis' elephants have been summoned to capture the lone tusker elephant that’s creating panic in areas around Pandalur
In Nilgiris district, near Cherampadi, last December three people were killed in a month by a lone tusker elephant attacked and killed. When action was taken to capture this elephant, it went into the forest in Kerala. as it entered Cherampadi the task of capturing the elephant has begun.
A 11-member special team led by Dinesh and Rajesh, an assistant forest officer has been called in to help with capturing the elephant Coimbatore district.
Coimbatore Regional Chief Forest Officer Anwardeen said, “A total of five Kumki elephants have been brought to capture the lone tusker. After a thorough examination, an anesthetic will be given on the 7th and the task of capturing the elephant will be carried out. People need not panic."
