Coimbatore public request railway officials to restart MEMU train service from Mettupalayam to Coimbatore

Memu train service from Mettupalayam to Coimbatore has been cancelled since last March due to Covid-19 pandemic.

Coimbatore: There were around 5 MEMU train services running on a daily basis from Mettupalayam to Coimbatore. This service was stopped since last March owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Southern Railways which gave permission to run many special trains and other trains across various routes, has not reinstated the trains from Mettupalayam to Coimbatore. This memu service has remained shut for around 10 months now. Delay in reinstating the memu train servicehas upsetted the public.

With the roadway from Mettupalayam to Coimbatore closed for construction works, all vehicles are using an alternate route for commute as ordered by the district authorities. This has not only increased the travel distance but also has affected the total duration for commute.

Hence the locals have requested the railway officials to reinstate the memu train service from Mettupalayam to Coimbatore as hundreds of people will be benefited by the service.
