V Ramamoorthy, All India Communist Party (Marxist) Coimbatore District Secretary issued a press release today.

Coimbatore: V Ramamoorthy, All India Communist Party (Marxist) Coimbatore District Secretary issued a press release today urging police to take strict action against those who create religious animosity.

In the press release V Ramamoorthy stated that " The Mettupalayam incident where a religious party offended the sentiments of another religion should be condemned seriously. This issue has created a panic in the minds of the people in Coimbatore.

With the recent incidents in Coimbatore, it is clear that religion is used to bring hatred in between people and political parties use it for their benefit in the upcoming elections.

People of Coimbatore have not forgotten what these Religious Extremists did years ago which collapsed the peace and economy for the people of Coimbatore.

It took 25 years for the people of Coimbatore to now recover from the incident caused by religious extremists.Coimbatore Marxist Communist Party members condemn the political parties who try to create tension in the city by hurting the sentiments of other religions.

It is really shocking to see the same police officials who arrest peaceful protestors sitting and watching the communal riot that is unfolding right in front of them.

Religious Extremists should be isolated to maintain peace in Coimbatore. District Officials and Police Officials should deny permission for religious based protests and must take necessary actions on Religious Extremists who protest without permission. Also the officials should arrest the speakers who make derogatory remarks on a particular religion or a person under the Goonda Act." He said

Marxist Communist Coimbatore District Secretary V Ramamoorthy then requested the District Collector to interfere in this issue to maintain a social decorum in Coimbatore.
