3 tonnes of ration rice smuggled from Pollachi to Kerala seized
Coimbatore: 3 tonnes of ration rice smuggled from Pollachi to Kerala seized. Ration rice smuggling incidents are taking place frequently from Pollachi and surrounding areas.
Revenue and Civil Supplies Department officials inspect this from time to time and action is being taken. The authorities received a tip off that ration rice was being smuggled through Periyapothu near Anaimalai. Following this, Anaimalai Circular Distribution Officer Murugaraj and Revenue officer Sellathurai conducted the inspection.
They stopped a truck and inspected it during the search. But the driver stopped and fled.On inspection of the vehicle it was revealed that there was about 3 tonnes of ration rice in the truck. Authorities later confiscated the vehicle used for the abduction and three tons of ration rice, searching for the driver who fled.
