Coimbatore: Vishnu (21) from Ponnaiyarajapuram was a cook at a private hotel. He and his 19 year old relative girl who was a college student were in love for the last three years. When both the families came to know about this, they gave consent to the wedding and the wedding was decided to be done shortly.
Meanwhile, the college girl went to her relatives house in Thillai Nagar. Vishnu who went there argued with the relatives to organise the wedding immediately. The college going girl refused to marry Vishnu and said that she was going to pursue her ambition of becoming an actress.
Upset by this, Vishnu took a knife from the girl's house and violently attacked the girl. Attacked severely, the girl collapsed in a pool of blood after which she was admitted at the Coimbatore Government Hospital for treatment.
The girl is now undergoing treatment and Vishnu was arrested by the police and is sent to prison. This shocking incident has created panic in the area.
