Coimbatore: Pollachi Mariamman Temple is one of the most popular temples in the Coimbatore district. Every year in the month of February, the Mariamman Temple in Pollachi hosts a grand festival with key ceremonies like Temple Car Visit, Paal Kavadi, Paravai Kavadi etc.
However this year due to Covid-19 pandemic, the Tamilnadu Government has been delaying the Mariamman Temple festival.
Hindu Munnani members todaypetitioned at the Sub Collector Office in Pollachi, requesting the government to immediately take steps to organise the Mariamman Temple festival.
In the petition it is stated that "There is a fear about the cancellation of the Mariamman Temple Festival this year. The Temple board hasn't issued any circular yet. With festivals and temple functions being celebrated across the state, we request the government to organise the Mariamman Temple Festival compiling to the Covid-19 conditions and guidelines."
