More than 700 bulls and more than 500 riders took part in the jallikattu competition at Alagumalai, Tirupur district.
Coimbatore: More than 700 bulls and over 500 bull tamers took part in the jallikattu competition held at Alagumalai, Tirupur district. Jallikattu was held for the 4th year in Alagumalai, Tirupur District, on behalf of the Alagumalai Jallikattu Bulls Association.

Udumalai Radhakrishnan, Minister of Animal Husbandry, Tamil Nadu inaugurated the Jallikattu competition.

749 bulls and 555 bull tamers participated in this competition. Doctors conducted a medical examination on behalf of the veterinary department for the bulls participating in the competition. Only tamers who came with a coronavirus test certificate were allowed to attend.
Karthik from Natham area, bagged the first prize for best tamer, a bike in the jallikattu competition by winning 12 bulls. The second prize was a moped to tamer from Vathalakundu and the third prize was one sovereign gold chain to Adeeswaran from Sivagangai.
The first prize for best bulls was a motorbike to Vivek from Dharapuram, the second prize was a moped for Felix from Lalgudi and the third prize was one sovereign gold chain for Jallikattu Rajasekar. Also, all the participants were given vessels, dhotis, towels and T-shirts. More than fifty riders were injured in the match.
