Tirupur: Jallikattu kick-starts with much fervour in Tirupur. Jallikattu is being held for the 4th year in Alagumalai, Tirupur district on behalf of the Jallikattu Kalai Association. District Collector Vijayakarthikeyan presided over the function.

Tamil Nadu Animal Husbandry Minister Udumalai Radhakrishnan inaugurated the Jallikattu competition.

1040 bulls and 600 riders participated in this competition. The bulls started arriving since early yesterday morning.
A gallery is set up on both sides at the foot of the Alagumalai and the 400-foot-Vadivasal was set up for the match. Coconut fiber (manju) is sprinkled on the ground to protect the bulls and warriors coming out of the Vadivasal
Similarly, parking is arranged on behalf of the Department of Transportation on the routes where spectators come to park their vehicles to watch the competition.
A medical camp has been set up with a team of doctors to provide immediate treatment to the players if they are injured during jallikkattu. The bulls were medically examined by doctors on behalf of the veterinary department. It has already been reported that riders will only be allowed to attend only if they come with a coronavirus test report.
The winners of the Jallikkattu competition will be given 2 mopeds, on behalf of Palladam MLA Karaiputhur Natarajan, 400 cauldrons, dhoti, towels and T-shirts have been given as prizes to the bulls and winners of the Jallikattu competition.
The match will also be telecast live on 6 wide screens around the venue for spectators. Drinking water and toilet facilities have also been provided. Heavy police security has been put in place as many people from Tirupur and nearby districts will be arriving to watch the match.
