Over 3 lakh children to be administered polio drops in Coimbatore district; Minister inaugurates immunisation at CMCH
The nationwide Pulse Polio Immunisation campaign commencedtoday, Sunday, January 31 covering 17 crore children up to five years of age. President Ram Nath Kovind launched the first round of the Pulse Polio Programme 2021 on Saturday by administering polio drops to some children at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The countrywide immunisation programme was earlier scheduled to start from 17 January, however, it was postponed due to the COVID-19 vaccination drive which started on 16 January.

In Coimbatore district, 1,581 polio camps have been set up to to administer polio drops to over 3 lakh children. More than 1,000 centres in rural and 379 centres in urban areas have been set up, health officials told.
Minister for Municipal administration, Rural development and implementation of special programme, S.P. Velumani inaugurated the polio immunisation programme by administering polio drops to the children at one of the camp in Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.

The camp will be open for the children to administer vaccine from 7 AM to 5 PM.
