Coimbatore: Tamilnadu Farmers Union conducted a general meeting todayto know about the farmer's requests ahead of the state assembly elections.

The meeting was held at a private wedding hall in Mettupalayam, Coimbatore were Tamilnadu Farmers Union State General Secretary Venugopal addressed the gathering and asked about various needs and problems faced by various farmers.

State Farmer's President SS Rangaswamy, State Vice President Harimoorthy, Konnapan, Udhaiyakumar, Loganathan Ramadhas and Ravindran participated in the event and discussed various issues faced by the farmers.



During the meeting various requests like pension for farmers of age more than 60, 100 days of work and proper amount settlements for damages caused by wild animals.

Later during the meeting farmers raised a controversial request which requested to killing Elephants, Wild Boars, Peacocks, Pigs, Deer and other wild animals to prevent them from entering the agricultural land and destroys crops.

With some requests accepted, certain requests are yet to be considered by the farmers union.

This controversial request to kill Elephants and Peacocks which is the National Bird of India has been met with curiosity among farmers and officials.
