Coimbatore: Members of All Transport Department Workers Union participated in a hunger strike today urging the government to initiate the meeting where various requests from the workers are to be addressed.
As a part of the hunger strike, members joined together abd protested in 15 places including Ukkadam, Sungam, Avinashi Road, Workers Union Head Office in Mettupalayam Road in Coimbatore.
The hunger strike in front of the Workers Union Head Office in Mettupalayam Road was headed by Workers Union Secretary Robert.
LPF Workers Union General Secretary Periyasamy addressed the members at the hunger strike and said that " Talks about the 14th salary increment is going on for 17 months. This meeting must be completed fast. Government must take action to start all the government buses and must fill all the vacant positions. A special budget must be allocated for the transport department to compensate the loss thst the department is facing."He said.
