Coimbatore: 'Nilachoru' festival in Coimbatore on Thai poosam. 'Nilachoru Festival', one of the traditional festivals of Tamil Nadu, was celebrated by the women of the Avarampalayam Duraisamy Lay Out area of Coimbatore.
The women of Avarampalayam, Duraisamy Lay Out area, who celebrate this ancient and traditional festival, have formed an organization called "Tamil Panpadu Kalacharam Maiam and Manamakizh Manram" to celebrate this festival every year on Thai poosam day. They said they were celebrating the Nilachoru festival to celebrate the moon 7 days before the Thai poosam.
At the Nilachoru festival held today, more than fifty women gathered together and enjoyed sharing the food items they had brought with them in the moonlight.
One of the women from the area Nithyarani said, "Many people forget about such festivals. We celebrate such festivals with enthusiasm every year in order to bring them to the next generation. In the future, the next generation should also celebrate this traditional Nilachoru festival".
