Over 56 illegal guest houses closed down in The Nilgiris
The Nilgiris: Masinagudi Panchayat office has sent official notice to shut down 56 private resorts till further notice in The Nilgiris. These resorts were operating without proper permission.
This order comes in response to the murder of an elephant by two men from a private resort last week. They set the elephant on fire which caused shockwaves across the country.
In the notice it was mentioned that all private guest houses which were running without proper permissions should be closed on their own.
After the notice, talks happened between the local resort owners, who then decided to close down their guest houses. The resorts began to close down from today.
