Anti-corruption police arrest two for selling liquor bottles at higher rates in Tasmac store


Coimbatore: Anti-corruption police have arrested and jailed a salesman and his assistant for selling liquor bottles by the government at a Tasmac liquor store near Coimbatore at higher prices. The incident has caused a stir in the area. Government Liquor Store No. 2232 is located on the way to L&T Bypass from Eachanari under Karumathampatti Subdivision, Chettipalayam Police limits in Coimbatore. Supervisor Vinod had lodged a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Department at the shop where he stated that the shop where he worked as a supervisor was constantly selling alcohol bottles at higher prices. Following this, the anti-corruption police raided the shop at around 10 yesterday.

Rs. 70,000 unaccounted money was recovered. Police arrested Salesman Lenin, Bar Assistant Saravanan, from the shop who was on duty, and conducted an investigation. It was revealed that they were selling liquor at a higher price than the government-mandated price and making lakhs every day. Following this, the Anti-Corruption Police filed a case and remanded the two in Pollachi Jail this morning. The incident where the supervisor of the shop was arrested and jailed has caused great joy among the public. It is hoped that at least from now Tasmac liquor stores will sell liquor at government-fixed prices.
