Coimbatore: Devotees unsure if Gundam Festival will take place in Anaimalai Masaniamman Temple. Anaimalai Masaniamman Temple is one of the most famous temples in Coimbatore district.

Devotees from all over the country and abroad visit the Masaniamman Temple for Tharisanam. Thousands of devotees come for Tharisanam on special days like Friday, Saturdayand Sunday. The Gundam Festival is held every year at the Anaimalai Masaniamman Temple and several devotees come to witness the Gundam festival. The Gundam Festival begins with the flag hoisting every year during the 'Thai maasam' New Moon.

A consultation meeting on the Gundam Festival will be held 15 days before the start of the Gundam Festival and an announcement will be made to the public. The 'Thai maasam' New Moon falls on February 11this year. No announcement has been made about the Gundam festival so far and hence devotees are confused as to whether the Gundam festival will take place.

The temple administration has applied to the district administration for permission to hold the Gundam festival due to COVID-19. The temple administration has said that the district administration will decide whether the Gundam festival can be held.
