Pollachi rape case: Another woman testifies before judge
Coimbatore: In a major turn in the Pollachi rape case another affected woman has testified before the judge. Five people, including Thirunavukarasu and Sabarirajan, were arrested two years ago in connection with the abduction of a young girl in Pollachi, Coimbatore district, raping her at a farm house and videotaping it.
As many as 5 women have testified in the case so far and now a woman from Coimbatore appeared before a magistrate today and testified causing a stir in the court complex.
Following the confession made by the woman, the case is again getting intense and many more people including key figures are expected to be arrested.Many of the affected women did not come forward to lodge a complaint considering their future and just one woman came forward. Following her complaint 5 people were arrested and jailed.
All opposition parties protested saying there was involvement of political figures in the case following which the case was transferred to the CBI. Three people, including AIADMK leader Arulanathan, have been arrested and lodged in the Coimbatore Chettipalayam jail three weeks ago during the CBI's one-and-a-half-year investigation. Following that, the CBI investigation intensified.
The CBI has assured that the women victims would be given full protection and their names would be kept confidential. Hence they could come forward without any hesitation and lodge a complaint. Following this, today a woman has given a confession related to the case.
