Delay in settlement of pension - Union members protest in a Hunger Strike at Tirupur Collectorate

Police arrest protestors arrested over 20 members for protesting with getting approval from the authorities.


Tirupur: A hunger strike was conducted today against the Udumalaipet Zonal Development Officers and Madthukula Development Officers by the Tirupur District Rural Development Workers Union in front of the Tirupur Collectorate.

Sanitization workers Periya Kalimuthu from Poongamuthu panchayat in Udumalaipet and Kannaiyan from Kadathur panchayat in Madthukulam retired from their duties in the year 2019.

Their final settlement of 50,000 along with a pension of 2,000 rupees per month haven't been settled with them so far. Both their families are suffering as they haven't been paid even after 19 months after retirement.



Family members of both Kalimuthu and Kannaiyan took part in this hunger strike along with the members from CITU union.



However, Police officials arrested 20 us members who were involved in the hunger strike for protesting in front of the Collector Office without permission.
