Couple attacked by elephant near Isha Yoga Centre



Coimbatore: A couple from Namakkal escaped with injuries, after they were attacked by an elephant while they were waiting for a bus near Velliangiri, here on Wednesday night. 

According to reports from Alandurai police station, Venkatachalam (62) and his wife Saroja (55) from Namakkal visited Velliangiri and were waiting to board their bus back home. Unexpectedly, a wild tusker attacked them from behind and pushed them to the ground, and fled the scene.

The incident happened near Malaivasal, Muttathuvayal village at 7:30 PM. The injured couple are treated at a private hospital in the city. The incident caused a stir in the area.
