72nd Republic Day: Student cultural programmes canceled due to COVID-19

Coimbatore: The 72nd Republic Day was celebrated at the Coimbatore VOC Grounds. District Collector K. Rajamani hoisted the national flag and paid his respects and accepted the police parade honour.

Usually the school and college students express national unity by dancing to songs that emphasize patriotism every year at the Republic Day and Independence Day events in the city.

However, due to the COVID-19 outbreak this year, all cultural programmes have been canceled with the safety of students in mind.

Hence this year’s Republic Day ended with just the government programs and a police parade.
