Tirupur: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is on a three-day tour of Tamil Nadu ahead of the Assembly elections, campaigned in the Avinashi and Anupparpalayam areas.
As part of that, he also campaigned in Tirupur district today. Arriving at the Avinashi bus stand for the first time, he received a warm welcome and spoke to the crowd gathered there.
At the time, he accused the government in Delhi of following the path of one country, one culture and thinking that the people of Tamil Nadu could be controlled just as Prime Minister Modi had controlled the state.
Moreover, they think that the people of Tamil Nadu can be bought for a price. But TN people will do only what they think is right. You can't buy it."
He said that he thinks that agriculture and small businesses can't be handed over to 5 or 6 businesses. My relationship with Tamil people is a symbol of emotional love between my family and the Tamil people beyond politics. Finally, he said goodbye, saying that we are trying to bring in a government to improve your quality of life.
He then left, abruptly stopped his car before arriving at Anupparpalayam and went to a nearby shop to have tea with party executives. When we came to Anupparpalayam area and talk to the people, we all know the situation in India. He blamed the central government for the economiccrisis and blamed demonetisation, GST for the way it was handled.
They do not realize what religion and culture have taught us. Our culture is to pay respect to others. This is the culture and identity of Tamil Nadu, he said.
Also, he left saying that I have not come here to tell my mankibat and that I have come here to hear your mankibat (grievances).
Later, Rahul Gandhi visited the Kumaran Memorial in Tirupur in the railway station area and paid homage to the statue of Tirupur Kumaran by wearing a garland.
