Resort sealed after a 50 year old male elephant was inflicted burns near Masinagudi

The Nilgiris: Resort was sealed by the forest after a 50 year old male elephant was inflicted with burns near Masinagudi. Forest officials recently recovered an injured wild male elephant which was roaming in the forest area of Masinagudi. The elephant passed away despite the doctors efforts to treat it's wounds.

A traumatic video of two youngsters hurting the same elephant which passed away with a burning tyre has been released online. This viral video has caused adverse effects among netizens. Forest officials recovered the injured elephant from the Masinagudi forest area with the help of Kumki elephants and had planned to send the injured elephant to the elephant camp in Mudumalai for intensive treatment. But unfortunately the elephant passed away on its way to Mudumalai.

The forest officials sent the elephant's body for autopsy to find the cause of death. However a viral video of two youngsters chasing the elephant by torturing the elephant with a burning tyre clearly showed the reason for the elephant's death. In the traumatizing video the elephant's ears can be seen burning from the fire which was thrown on it by two people.

Post this police officials have arrested a resort owner Rimon and Prashanth for murdering the elephant.

Gudalur Regional Development Officer Janardhanan and Masinagudi Panchayat Secretary Kiran sealed off 3 hotel rooms in the building with police protection.
