Chennai: Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) President, Kamal Haasan was discharged from a hospital in Chennai on Friday after a surgery in his leg. He would resume his campaign for the Assembly elections following a few weeks rest, an official release from the party said.
A week ago, the actor-turned politician completed the first leg of his campaign and was admitted to Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre in Chennai for a follow-up surgery in connection with a mild infection of his right leg bone, on January 19.
Post surgery, Kamal Haasan tweeted thanking the doctors at Sri Ramachandra Hospital who treated him. He also added that people's love is his medicine.

"The surgery was successful. Big thanks to the doctors' team at Sri Ramchandra Hospital. Till I recover, I wish to interact here and in the hearts of the people. People's love is my medicine. I wish to see them soon", he tweeted.
Kamal Haasan will resume campaigning, once he recuperates from the surgery, party sources say.
