With Tamilnadu Chief Minister Edapadi Palanisamy visiting Coimbatore, banners and Cut-outs are kept across the city to welcome the chief minister.
Coimbatore: DMK MLA Na Karthik accused that Minister SP Velumani continues to do cheap politics defying court ban on placing banners. He questioned the CM on how many more lives must be sacrificed for their cheap publicity.
In a press release he said, "In the name of welcoming the Chief Minister, the AIADMK has erected cut-outs at various places in Coimbatore on both sides of the road, obstructing traffic on both sides of the road.

More than 500 giant cut outs, arches and banners measuring 10X10, 16X10 and 20X10 are erected. Also in many places pits have been dug in the tarred roads to place cutouts and banners.

In Coimbatore, the AIADMK, led by Minister SP Velumani, has been involved in such activities in defiance of the Supreme Court's ban on placing banners."
He added that, "It is learned that the Coimbatore City Police has ordered the closing of roadside shops of ordinary poor people in areas like Singanallur, Sowripalayam and Uppilipalayam for two days. It is the act of crippling the livelihoods of the poor and simple people who make a living from their daily income"
He reminded that, "At a function attended by Minister SP Velumani in the Ramampalayam area near Mettupalayam, a young man named Rahul (A Poovarasan (25 years old) was electrocuted while planting the AIADMK flag hoisted on the iron pipe. Rajeswari, a young woman who stumbled upon the AIADMK flagpole in the Goldwins area of Coimbatore, was also seriously injured when a lorry collided. In 2017, a young man named Raghu was tragically killed in an accident where a giant cut-out of AIADMK leader who was illegally placed for the MGR centenary celebrations near Coimbatore Medical College fell."
He said that, "In this regard, the Welfare Petition (No. W.P. NO- 31084 OF 2017) was filed on behalf of the DMK in the Chennai High Court issued an order dated 30.11.2017 directing the government to prevent unnecessary placement of cut outs and banners in buildings and residential areas and to monitor whether it is obstructing traffic. Yet in Coimbatore, the AIADMK, led by SP Velumani, who seeks the cheap political publicity of all, has not changed a bit to date, despite so many accidents and court orders."
DMK MLA N. Karthik accused, "How many more accidents and lives should be lost for the sake of the grandeur and pomp of AIADMK. The Chief Minister must answer this!"
He opined that, "Despite court ban, they continue to be disrespected in Coimbatore. Officers and the police are partial towards AIADMK. Officers and police are frightened of those in power and fail to do their duty. On behalf of the Coimbatore East District DMK, I strongly condemn the continued involvement of AIADMK activists in such acts of harassment even after court ban."
In his press release he requested the Coimbatore City Police not only to immediately remove the giant cut outs, arches and banners that have been illegally placed in Coimbatore, but also to take action against the AIADMK leader without showing partiality for setting them up illegally.
