4 gangs from Kerala involved in Hawala robbery in Coimbatore: District SP Arularasu
Coimbatore: District SP Arularasu has said that 4 gangs from Kerala involved in Hawala scam in Coimbatore. Police are searching for the person involved in the hawala scam in Coimbatore.
The Coimbatore district SP Arularasu has said that it has been revealed that more than 4 gangs from Kerala have been involved in the recent increase in car hijacking and hawala money transactions. On January 17, a mysterious gang attacked a driver near a Marapalam in Madukkarai, Coimbatore and robbed him of Rs 10 lakh. Mohammad Mustafa (34), a Call taxi driver from Mannarkkad, Palakkad district, lodged a complaint with the Madukkarai police. It has been revealed that a gang from Alappuzha, Kerala was involved in the robbery.
SP Arularasu said, "Four gangs operating from Alappuzha, Kannur and Malappuram areas of Kerala have been involved in hijacking vehicles and looting hawala money. The gang in Alappuzha was involved in the robbery near Marappalam in Madukkarai. This has been confirmed by examining 200 surveillance camera footage between Coimbatore and Trichy. Special team of police is investigating from various angles. Also, on December 20, a Kerala gang looted 27.5 lakh rupees worth of hawala money which was smuggled in a car in Coimbatore and the 90 lakh rupees hidden in secret compartments in the car were seized. 6 people have already been arrested regarding this. A letter has been sent to the Income Tax Department and the Enforcement Department to inquire into this. We have appointed a special officer to inquire into this matter and will soon submit the relevant documents to the Special Officer of the Enforcement Department."
