Coimbatore: Coimbatore Police Commissioner Sumit Saram appeared in Villupuram court to testify in Coimbatore Inspector Bribery case.
Villupuram Anti-Corruption and Vigilance Police have arrested and suspended Inspector Sekar and Head constable Sundaramoorthy, who were inspectors of the Villupuram Prohibition Enforcement Division in 2013, for accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000 to free a car used to smuggle alcohol by Krishnamurthy from Villupuram and Seyad next to Vinnanpalayam.
The then Villupuram Commodity DIG Sumit Saran ordered a case against them. Accordingly, the Anti-Corruption and Vigilance Unit police filed a case against the two in the Villupuram Special Anti-Corruption Court. The court summoned the then DIG Sumit Saran, who is currently the Coimbatore City Police Commissioner, to testify in the case.
Accordingly, he appeared before the Villupuram Special Anti-Corruption Court yesterday. Judge Mohan adjourned the case till August 8.
