Coimbatore: DMK District Youth Wing Deputy Organizer Navaneethakrishnan has been arrested in Pollachi for spreading slanderous news about Minister SP Velumani on social media. Navaneethakrishnan is from Sethupathi nagar, Pollachi.
He is the Deputy Organizer of the DMK Youth Wing in the Coimbatore South District and had posted a defamatory post on Facebook using inappropriate words accusing Minister SP Velumani. AIADMK Selvaraj who saw this reprimanded Navaneetha Krishnan about it for which he had allegedly threatened him. Following this, Selvaraj lodged a complaint at the Pollachi West police station.
Police filed a case under 6 sections including spreading slanderous messages on social media to tarnish the reputation of the minister, sabotaging the public peace and making death threats and produced Navaneethakrishnan in JM-2 court.
The judge released Navaneethakrishnan on personal bail. Earlier, police took Navaneethakrishnan to Pollachi Government Hospital for a medical examination.
There was a stir as DMK gathered there and chanted slogans condemning the ruling party of Tamil Nadu government for falsely accusing the DMK.
They accused that while the police are happily taking action againstDMK members, they haven't taken a single action against AIADMK members for similar complaints.
