Coimbatore: Govindasamy (60) hailed from the Manampalli forest ranges in Valparai, Coimbatore. He saw wild elephants when he went to urinate behind his house.
Govindasamy who was chased by the wild elephants ran for his life when he tripped and fell down sustaining injuries to his legs and forehead.
Forest officials under Ranger Manigandan arrived at the scene after receiving information and admitted Govindaraj at a hospital located within the premises of UPASI Tea Research Foundation.
Under the orders of Anamalai Tiger Reserve Director Arokiyaraj, Govindaraj was taken to Valparai Government Hospital for further treatment. It was later revealed that Govindaraj was mentally ill. Officials then handed him over to his relatives and advised them not to let me out at night.
