However there are still many buildings in Coonoor which are built without proper approval. It is said that some people are building complexes with the approval they got for building a house.

Municipality officials demolished a four storey building which was built by an individual by encroaching a part of the main road in Rajaji Nagar.
Municipal officials said that there are many buildings in the Coonoor area which are either built on encroached lands or built without getting approval from the municipality. Officials said that the places will be inspected and unapproved buildings will be demolished.
