Sasikala unwell, hospitalised
Former AIADMK leader V K Sasikala (69) , who is due to be released on January 27 from Bengaluru's Parapanna Agrahara prison, has allegedly developed breathing problems and will be moved to a hospital, reports say.
Sasikala's counsel N Raja who has confirmed the news has told Deccan Herald that "Sasikala is unwell. She has developed fever and has breathing issues. She will be shifted to a hospital. The information that we received from the prison is that her condition is stable."
Sasikala is serving her sentence, after the Supreme Court upheld a 2014-trial court order that sentenced four persons, including late former CM J Jayalalithaa, to four years in jail for amassing wealth.
With assembly elections around, Sasikala's sudden illness has sparked controversy as she is set to be released from the jail on January 27.
