Man dies after native gun misfires while pig-hunting in Coimbatore


Coimbatore: A man was killed when a country gun he was illegally possessing exploded while he was on a boar hunt in a rural hill station near Coimbatore.

According to the police, Ayyasamy (age 40) from Madhesh Gounder street, Theethipalayam near Coimbatore and lives in a village close to the forests. Last night he and his friends Babu, Anand, Ranganathan and Ramasamy went into the forest with a native gun which they had illegally kept without a license without the knowledge of the government for hunting purposes. Apparently when he went hunting wild boar in that area the native gun held by one of the friends suddenly exploded on a tree branch in the forest.

The bullet hit Ayyasamy and he died on the spot. The villagers who came to know about this informed the forest department and the police. Police arrived at the scene, seized the body, arrested 4 friends and are investigating. They are also investigating possession of a native gun without a license. The incident, which took place at midnight today, has caused tragedy in the area
