People of Thaimudi village request forest officials to drive away wild elephants back into the forest

With over 200 wild elephants camped near Valparai, people are quite tensed about the situation.

Coimbatore: Valparai, a popular tourist destination in Coimbatore is often visited by wild elephants from the forest areas nearby. Over 200 wild elephants are reported to have camped at areas near Valparai and have tried to enter agriculture fields.

These wild elephants are said to have caused damage to school kitchens, farm lands, tea estates, shops etc.

As soon as the locals spot a wild elephant they immediately inform the forest authorities who then send the elephants back into the forest area. But the elephants never really go into the forest land as they emerge out of the forest quite often.

Meanwhile a group of 4 wild elephants with a baby elephant have now settled near a residential area in Thaimudi. Forest officials arrived at the venue and tried sending back the elephants inside the forest but the elephants tried to attack the forest officials back.

Later the wild elephants were sent back into the forest zone after hours of struggle.

But since wild elephants usually come back to the area after some days, local public have requested the forest officials to send back the wild elephants deep inside the forest area with the help of Kumki elephants before anyone gets in the way of harm.
