Chennai Adyar Cancer Treatment Center President and world renowned oncologist Dr. V. Shantha passes away: CM Edappadi Palanisamy offers his condolence
Chennai: CM Edappadi Palanisamy offered his condolence to Chennai Adyar Cancer Treatment Center President and world renowned oncologist Dr. V. Shantha who passed away in hospital where she was admitted due to ill health.
In his statement, CM said, "Dr. Shanta joined the Adyar Cancer Treatment Center in 1955 and held various key positions. With her selfless service, she is credited with improving the Adyar Cancer Hospital, which was started with 12 beds, with the support of various quarters by bringing modern facilities and providing free high quality treatment to the poor people suffering from cancer."
He also appreciated that Dr. Shanta lived as per Thiruvalluvar's words and was the one who made the public aware of the need for further research and the need for frequent tests for the recurrence of cancer.
